Gefräßige Erinnerungskultur.
Port Baikal was the last stop of the Trans-Siberian railroad to Lake Baikal. From here, the trains were loaded on two ferries and ferried across Lake Baikal. A train journey at this time meant a combined train and ship travel. Today there is a continuous railway-line around the southern part of Lake Baikal, so that Port Baikal has lost its historical significance.
